Have you ever had one of those weeks that you just need a minute to catch your breath at the end?
Well, this pretty much sums up my previous week. So, on Friday when I headed to Indianapolis for a baby shower on Saturday morning and my husband asked if I would like stay until Sunday to get a break, I gladly replied YES.
Saturday morning, I woke up and had coffee with my mom. This is such a simple event, but such a comforting event for me. When I was a little girl, I was so scared & nervous to go to school every morning. So, my mom would wake up extra early and the two of us would sit on the couch and drink coffee. Yes, I started drinking coffee in kindergarten.
The baby shower that was supposed to be a breakfast out had a little change of plans. Sara was put on bed rest in the hospital on Friday. Remembering my days in the hospital on bedrest, I threw in extra magazines and a great book (The Help). I got pretty darn good at staring at walls during that time. What else can you do when you have to lay on your side for hours! That could be an entire blog post itself… It was nice to see some great friends and catch up!
After the shower, I headed out to meet Heidi. She is a wonderfully talented photographer and mama to FIVE kiddos under the age of 7! We headed to downtown Indianapolis for a mini photo shoot. I kind of felt like a senior in high school as we giggled. She tried to show me how to smile with eyes and not my mouth. A task that seems easy in theory, but impossible for me! I guess I’m just supposed to smile in pics.
I broke down and tried on jeggings, only to discover that I kind of love them.
I met another friend for some good old fashioned retail therapy. I think I might be a year behind, but I really want some cowboy boots. I didn’t find any, but we had a lot of fun looking. I randomly bought a coat with ruffles. Which is not really like me, but seemed to be just perfect.

We had a relaxing dinner. One that didn’t require me to cut someone’s food, clean up any spills or con someone into eating their vegetables. That’s what I classify a good dinner!
I love my kiddos, but as a mom I need to get a break every once in awhile. It makes me a better mom.
On Sunday, I returned to my crazy house and my crazy little boys. I hugged them, laughed at them, chased them around the house and returned to life as usual. Which includes dinner’s with spilled drinks, kids trying to climb across the table to get their serving and an occasional eye rolling by mom and dad.
I hope you all (this is my southern version of y’all…can’t get myself to fully go there, but getting closer) had a great weekend!
PS. My shop is OPEN! Go ahead, check it out…
