Today, I’m linking up with Gussy Sews for her Inspiration Workshop. This month’s workshop is focused around the bedroom. I started looking at our bedroom more and realized what was missing….hmmm…the headboard!
Our current bedroom set is my orginal furniture growing up. It was cherry and dark, so while living in Chicago I decided to give it a makeover. Some hard work, cream paint and some new hardware it was just my style. The headboard did not match the look and not really “worth” painting. So, after several moves it was left behind.
Here’s a collection of ideas for some great DIY headboards.
#1: Fabric Headboard – see complete tutorial here

I love this idea (especially since I have a lot of fabric laying around).
How fun would this be if you made it look like a patchwork quilt?!?!
#2. An Old Door Re-purposed into a headboard – see complete tutorial here

The tutorial gives step by step instructions and even lists the color of the paint – woohoo!
#3: Upholstered Headboard – see complete tutorial here
I love the look of an upholstered headboard, but this one might take a higher skill level and some powertools. I’m not saying this would stop me….

Such a great way to customize your bedroom and make it your own! I can also see this in a kid’s room with some fun sayings. Oh the possibilities! Her tutorial is wonderful with step by step instructions and shopping sources.

Stopping by from Gussy Sews…. My favorite is definitely the repurposed door! What a cool idea. And I love all the bright yellows.
I think that one is my favorite, too. Now I just need to find a door!
Popping over from Gussy…love the ideas! and the yellows are so vibrant!
