Craftpalooza 2011: two friends, one craft day

One of my dearest friends is coming for a visit next week….yay!  While talking about what we would do during her visit, I threw out the idea of a craft day.  And soon we are planning Craftpalooza 2011.  I’m in love with a weekly post by Gussy Sews called inspiration workshop.  This week’s prompt was spend the day playing.  This is exactly how I would spend my day playing.  Here’s a sneak peak to what we have planned to make: 1,  These fabulous Tissue Paper Pom-Poms (by Martha Stewart) 2.  Fabric Flowers (Check out this Tutorial) 3.  Love Is All you Need Banner The kick-off of Craftpalooza will start next Monday with mango margaritas on our front porch.  The following Tuesday we will attempt to make all these lovely creations.  I have a feeling our attempts may not look this pretty, but I can guarantee there will be many laughs!…

a handmade summer wedding

I just finished up a bridal order for totes and matching make-up bags, so I think I have weddings on my mind. I love all the small details that make the day so special and so unique. Here are a few of my favorite Etsy wedding picks… Our wedding day was pouring down rain. It was raining so hard that day that a drop of rain dripped on my head while kneeling at the alter. I’ve been told rain on your wedding day is good luck, so I guess I got some extra luck. What was your favorite part of your wedding day? One of my favorite moments was having my mom walk me down the aisle.  My dad passed away when I was 13, so I couldn’t imagine anyone else giving me away.  She was a nervous wreck.  Right before they opened the doors, she asked how I was…

finding the balance as a mom

I’ve read a lot of blogs that talk about quitting your day job to start your dream job.  I laugh inside, because my current day job is being a mom.  So, quitting this job is not really an option.  It is more of a change in how my day to day operates.  I usually wake up before the boys and check/reply to e-mails, package up any orders ready to be shipped and try to organize my day. I love (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE) that I get to create and be creative.  My days are usually filled with toddlerville and my nights filled with sewing, but lately it has been getting to be too much.  This summer, I enrolled the boys in a two day program where they go all day.  On the first day, I drove away to two little boys holding hands in the middle of the playground.  Another day…

Happy Weekend of Sewing!

My wonderful husband took the boys to grandma’s house for the weekend.  Let me tell you what I have done… 1.  Woke up at my own leisure 2.  Sat on the couch and drank a cup of coffee with no interruptions 3.  Sewed my face off (my husband’s words) 4.  Missed my boys (husband included) 5.  Took our dog for a long walk 6.  Sat on the front porch and watched cars go by 7.  Discovered Pandora (I know I am sooo behind on this one) 8.  Finally got new beach bags posted…here they are! inspiration board #1: yellow

I’ve been admiring a new series on the fabulous blog Gussy Sews where she shares   7 pretty things every Sunday.  I love seeing all the pretty pictures, so it inspired me to start a virtual inspiration board. Yellow makes me HAPPY .  Daffodils have been popping up in our backyard and our afternoons have been spent on the front porch…hello Spring…bring it on! All photos were found on my new obsession – www.weheartit.com .  Found in my sewing room is a large cork board filled with pages of magazines, colors that inspire me and patterns that I love. What color inspires you?
