The Cottage at Plott Creek: Part 2

You know you love the decorating in a house when you just keep taking more and more pictures of each little space.  Often with decorating, it is the smallest of details that can make a big statement.  Angela, the owner of the Cottage at Plott Creek in Waynesville, North Carolina, gets a gold star.  Every detail just blends together so beautifully in this space.  If you missed the first post, check out more of the cottage here.

Natural elements and colors fill the space so beautifully.

Because of my husband’s job, we will be moving from our current house in less than a year.  After being in this space, I realized how much I love big windows and lots of daylight.  I think windows and daylight are often overlooked, because we are so concerned with floor plans and room sizes.   How many times have you been house shopping and looked at the house at night?

We also loved the open arrangement of the living room/kitchen/dining area.   And you know what wasn’t in the main living room?  A big old television.  There was one in the lower living room, but this space was used to read, have conversation and just relax.  One thing I would like to change for our family.

This cottage also made me re-evaluate the amount of stuff we have in our house.  I guess it looks like another project in the near future!

What is your favorite feature in a house?

  • That little plastic flower that is sitting on the table looks like the project I found on Pinterest where you melt plastic spoons! I need to go to this place.
