This is one of those better late than never posts…oops! Back in September, I got to sneak away with three great friends to spend a couple of days at the Country Living Fair in Columbus, Ohio. It was so much fun and I hated to not share some photos with you. So, let’s just pretend it is still September…okay?
This is where I insert that I now feel famous due to my closeness to someone actually on TV. Cari from the HGTV show Cash & Cari had a booth. She was super nice and right there chatting with everyone. So, yah, my cool factor just went way up.
Modern June was one of my absolute favorite booths at the fair. Kelly McCants (second from the right) should just wear a crown as the queen of oil cloth. And, no, she does not call herself that…I call her that. That would just be weird. She had shopping carts, place mats, tablecloths, baby bibs and even totes made out of oil cloth. The best part is that she has a new book, Sewing with Oil Cloth, and will tell you exactly how to make all these wonderful items. Look for a post in the future where I attempt to sew a few items using her patterns.
I also had the chance to meet and chat with Jennifer Paganelli the creator of Sis Boom Fabrics. It was so much fun to hear her explain the design process she uses when creating new fabrics. She also recently published a book with some great sewing patterns call Happy Home. It has 21 sewing and craft projects and is just beautiful!
And now, on to some pretty pictures for your viewing pleasure. Remember, we are pretending it is September. Go ahead, pin those images for your Halloween decorating inspiration…there’s always next year!
It was a great time and I will probably venture back next year. If you plan on going, there is an early bird ticket that you can purchase ahead of time. I highly recommend doing this! It gets pretty crowded.
